Week 12 - Getting there

So what a week with me trying to get back on track but also having to deal with some social obstacles too. Overall I think I have got there this week all things considered.dropping a further kg or so at last.
My head completely back in the new lifestyle mode and the main reason is the adjustments Chris has made to my eating habits, goals and the way I approach the day.
He really didn't change much at all but it was the tweak I needed to get going again and promote my body into heading for the goals I seek.
This week though had the start of the social outings which will never leave our lives and they are something we need to take in our stride and factor into our lifestyle.
The first one was Thursday night and is an annual event where eating drinking and socialising are the norm. My picture is me just before heading off. Not known for my smiling but inside let me tell you I'm smiling. Suddenly I have started to feel good in clothes again and not long ago I wouldn't fit in this suit but in reality now it is a little to big! There is no other incentive or feeling like this and the scales don't even come near the joy you get from feeling good in clothes.
The night itself was good and I ate the full meal although these functions never have huge portions do they? On alcohol I did indulge although not to complete excess like others and I left the event early 1.30am as opposed to the 3.30am when it closed. Plenty long enough given it started at 6.30pm. A fairly clear head I was keen to get some time in the hotel gym before breakfast.
Highlight of the evening? Someone I have known for years and still see fairly regular coming up to me and saying he didn't recognise my behind due to my body shape changing so much.
I did make the gym and whilst it was by no means a full workout it does set you up for the day and get you back into the flow. Nice breakfast before setting off home and limiting my food intake the rest of Friday to compensate for the previous night.
Then cam Saturday and an evening with Chris and other people signed onto the Impact programme were having a gathering. Again I restricted my intake during the day as some compensation and whilst I wasn't eating out I knew the drink would be flowing.
Great night with great people all socialising and not one mention of calories or abstaining. Great night much needed by all and whilst I was a little worse for wear the Sunday morning it was good to see and chat with like minded people. All heading for a goal and sharing things and feelings about a change in lifestyle is so good for keeping you going.
As a final point and I won't be naming names but people ask me how many actually read your blog. My answer is I don't actually know but I do know some read it and it helps me writing it so I don't really think about numbers.
However someone I know approached me this week who has started getting back on the fitness trail and eating better. To hear him say he reads my blog and it inspired him to get his arse back into it meant so much to me and I am glad he told me.
Heading into the Christmas period I imagine there will be lots more obstacles and hurdles but I know I am well placed to deal with them.
Until next week.........
