Week Six - Alcohol

Well I'm another year older but getting lighter with a shrinking circumference. None of us can do anything about getting older but we can control how we feel an how we lead our life.
Fortunately my change in lifestyle is still going in the right direction and my body continues to change both losing weight at a fairly constant rate between 0.5 and 1 kg a week. My whole physical shape is also changing for the better and I feel so good.
My eating plan week by week gets easier and as I am now controlling most of my eating plans I don't feel I am on any kind of diet or restriction and I have quickly learnt that food can be both healthy and taste good. I don't get hung up about the things I eat and certainly don't beat myself up if I stray from the path have something not on the 'list' Just enjoy it and get back on track straight afterwards.
My view is to compensate for by reducing other meals during the day etc. to lessen the blow.
So this week's picture - alcohol
Most of us have a weakness for it in varying ways. Some like a regular small amount while others binge and a few just occasionally. I classify myself as an easily led binge drinker! The picture is actually from a recent house party we had, the day after I started my new lifestyle.
I enjoy a drink and whilst I don't drink like I did when I was younger I still probably enjoy a tipple once a week.Having had a birthday week I obviously indulged more than usual.
Again, as with food going off plan alcohol is no different in my view and after an evening of fun you've just got to get back into the healthy lifestyle again. We are only human and giving up something we enjoy isn't necessary, in my view, it just needs to be controlled.
We all know alcohol equals calories and therefore it is something we need to control as part of our lives just like food choices. I am not here to advise on nutrition and what you should and shouldn't eat or drink. I leave that to the experts but we can all look at the calorific values of differing alcoholic drinks to see which aren't quite as bad for us. Sadly I can do nothing to ease the pain of the hangover.
So in the short term I will continue to drink in moderation although ultimately I'd like to stop completely but it's one step at a time and why really give something up completely that I enjoy.
The rest of my week has been fairly uneventful in term of eating and I continue to search healthy foods and recipes to keep eating varied.
I have also seemed to change my eating habits and lifestyle when my job takes me on the road even when I've not prepared or called out at short notice I have the ability to eat healthy and cope with pitfalls that previously would have tripped me up.
The lifestyle change is no longer all new to me and whilst I'm certainly not out of the woods yet I feel I am definitely heading in the right direction. With personal determination and the right people around you helping and supporting each other the journey becomes so much easier.
Until next week when I have think I will discuss my forward goals and objectives
Cheers!
